Do you know that cultured dextrose, if its main active ingredient is calcium propionate, can be used a natural silage additive in the diet of dairy cows to resist mildew, reduce mycotoxins, and improve the aerobic stability of silage?

Although there is no study directly examining the use of cultured dextrose to reduce mycotoxin, synthetic calcium propionate has been proven to inhibit the growth of molds and decrease the mycotoxin contents in silage as a functional additive (https://www.mdpi.com/2076-2615/10/8/1336)

Cultured dextrose can also be used as a good additive in ruminants for gluconeogenesis to improve lamb performance, and beef quality. Additional benefits include:

  • Can help prevent spoilage and maintain the quality of animal feed.

  • As a preservative in TMR (total mixed ration) feed to inhibit putrefaction in hot weather.

  • Can help prevent second fermentation in silage.

  • Can help improve the quality of deteriorated feed.
